At the bench in Ghent.

Connor Carson is a professional full-time gunsmith in Ghent, NY, specializing in sporting and hunting shotguns of all makes and models. Gunsmithing full-time since 2018, he learned his craft primarily self-taught through a supportive small gun shop in Hopedale, Massachusetts.

Experienced across all types of firearms, a deep love of shotgunning guided Connor toward a specialization in fine over-under and side-by-side shotguns. In 2022 he relocated to New York and joined The Orvis Company at Sandanona Shooting Grounds in Millbrook as their full-time gunsmith.

Upstate New York is a major hub for shotgunners — sporting clays, trap, skeet, and some of the best upland bird hunting in the Northeast.

At Sandanona, Connor worked with hundreds of shooters, novice to expert, and built a reputation for high-quality work that local shooters and nearby clubs came to rely on. That reputation grew beyond New York, with customers nationwide shipping guns in for service.

In mid-2026, Carson Gunsmithing LLC was founded. Connor now works full-time under his own name at his Ghent shop — fully equipped to repair, modify, and personalize your cherished shotguns and rifles.
